Our UK located ecommerce client specialises in price comparison websites with sophisticated back end booking technology. They are undergoing huge IT transformation across the group of 8 leading online financial product brands placing them in the top tier of the Sunday Times Top 250. With a turnover close to £500m, the CIO and IT service has moved past pure play infrastructure automation into a Continuous Delivery culture.
They are now looking to build out their talented and industry recognised team with Continuous Delivery and DevOps experts from the surrounding area to add an extra new dimension to their thinking, methods and development.

  • An evangelist when it comes to agile methods, Continuous Delivery and Open Source and you are also genuinely convinced that software development is all about delivering real solutions to real problems.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provisioning and supporting enterprise scale applications and infrastructure for the web
  • Provisioning first class solutions across agile product teams under the leadership of the Architecture Team and Project Managers, guided by the business Product Owners
  • Contribute to the evolving culture of innovation, enthusiasm and passion
  • Support and lead innovation
  • Create and define technical standards and guidelines
  • Support product teams with design and system structure
  • Providing knowledge and insight into both emerging technologies and new opportunities around existing technologies
  • Enhance technical excellence within the products
  • Working with agile teams to deliver high quality solutions
  • Evangelise and promote the use of continuous deployment  and automated infrastructure
  • Presenting results of innovation research to the teams.
  • Helping to guide department standards in quality and innovation
  • Supporting the Technical Forum to establish and identify technical opportunities
  • Ensure work is delivered to a high quality, on time and budget to the agreed requirements
  • Ensure delivery is at a high standard at all times
  • Ensure team standards are being evolved and increased
  • Be responsible for technical problem solving
  • Identify and escalate and take ownership of project continuous deployment environment
  • Ensure effective communication and cooperation with other IT (and Business) managers and departments to resolve problems / issues and further enhance the IT development services provided to the business.
  • Help to create and define standards across the team and department
  • Promoting and evangelising continuous deployment
  • Helping to plan and arrange internal technical forums
  • Undertake activities in line with department standards and / or working practices
  • Contribute to the on-going improvement of the adopted working practices and standards within the department
  • Liaise with business to help define requirements
  • Work with QA to help establish correct testing methods and coverage
  • Contribute to the design, specification and analysis of computer systems
  • Contribute to the implementation of computer systems and the accurate tracking of an enhancement and / or development
  • Assist in the articulation and evaluation of business requirements
  • Support testing of developments and / or systems
  • Contribute to the agile process to ensure a high standard of delivery
  • Assist in architectural design planning
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • Technologies include: Windows, Linux, C#, JavaScript, Ruby, Chef/Puppet, PowerShell, SQL, XML, JSON, Networking, NoSQL, AMQP Messaging, Web Services, IIS
