Ryan Opens DUB2 Green DataCentre

Interxion's  New €12 Million Dublin Data Centre Positions ParkWest  As A Key ICT Hub

INTERxion-DUB2-CEOwithEamonRyan.pngThe Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan TD has opened DUB2, a new green data centre at Park West  for Interxion, a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centres.

Interxion's business in Ireland has grown significantly since its establishment here in 2001. A major part of this growth comes from telecoms providers, enterprises and technology companies  seeking carrier and vendor-neutral infrastructure combined with a constant focus on customer satisfaction.

DUB2 is Interxion's second Dublin data centre. The expansion was needed to meet growing customer demand for energy-efficient, high-power-density colocation infrastructure and outsourced managed services. It Brings Interxion's European data centres to 27, giving it more than 55,000m2 of equipped space in 11 countries.

At the opening, Minister Ryan said:"The Irish Government has prioritised energy efficient ICT and the establishment of new data centres in our framework for economic renewal.

"With our temperate climate, Ireland is one of the best locations for the construction of data centres internationally, and this provides us with a real competitive advantage," said Ryan.

"Interxion has clearly recognised these advantages, in establishing its second data centre here in Park West.

Interxion is a co-founder of the EMEA Chapter Uptime Institute, a contributory member of The Green Grid and The EC Joint Research Centre on Sustainability.

The site has been designed using Interxion's energy-efficient modular architecture, with free cooling and maximum-efficiency components as standard. Power monitoring and management systems also enable customers to monitor their power usage, streamlining their operations to optimise Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).

"This is a company that is focussed on energy-efficient operations, on delivering green jobs, and I wish them the very best in their endeavours," said Ryan.

Interxion Ireland Managing DirectorTanya Duncan  said: "We would like to thank the 90+ people involved in the completion of this complex data centre construction project.

"It means that we are able to further strengthen Park West's reputation as a key ICT hub and continue to meet demands for data centre space in the region, from all sectors of the market,"

"Our modular build-out approach and lean infrastructure design enables us to offer energy-efficient and cost-effective data centre services, both of which are of great appeal to Irish customers. The quick uptake of our services has meant that we are already at 50 percent capacity in the new facility, which means we have been able to further enhance the PUE for the data centre,"said Duncan.

The new DUB2centre will provide an additional 2,455m2 of gross space, increasing Interxion's overall capacity to 4,755m2.

With a redundant 4 MVA grid connection, it supports the latest high-density power configuration requirements. It offers 2N UPS power and N+1 cooling, as well as advanced alarm and monitoring systems.

Interxion's uniformly designed, energy-efficient data centres offer customers extensive security and uptime for their mission-critical applications. With connectivity provided by 350 carriers and ISPs and 18 European Internet exchanges across its footprint, Interxion has created content and connectivity hubs that foster growing customer communities of interest.

Interxion is a leading provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services in Europe, serving over 1,100 customers through 27 data centres in 11 European countries.
