First Online Backup Company in Ireland 2 Win ISO 27001 Certification

KeepITSafe, one of Ireland's leading providers of online backup, has been awarded ISO 27001 certification, making it Ireland's first online backup provider to be independently certified to the highest internationally recognised IT security standard.
The certificate was awarded to KeepITsafe following a rigorous auditing process conducted by Certification Europe,on behalf of The International Organisation for Standardisation. The ISO is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.
As the recent publication of the Data Protection Commissioners Report showed, 2009 was a rocky year for data loss stories and security violations, both company leaders pictured here agree that more companies in the data backup space need to do everything in their power to make sure their customer data is secured to the highest measures.
Certification Europe CEO Michael Brophy, (Pictured on the left) said: "Businesses must take greater responsibility for the information they hold. There have been far too many incidents of lost or compromised client information".
Specifically, the ISO 27001 standard is a globally recognised Information Security Management System (ISMS) standard. ISO 27001 specifies the requirements and processes to enable a business to establish, implement, review and monitor, manage and maintain effective information security - an essential factor for keepITsafe's ongoing success.
KeepITsafeTechnical DirectorJonathan Crowe (Pictured on the right) said: "keepITsafe's business is to provide a secure online backup service to customers that is fully managed and fully monitored.
"This certification reiterates the lengths keepITsafe will go to in making sure that all compliances and security measures are met. We are very proud to have achieved this certification and become the most secure and certified Irish owned online backup company.
"As businesses grow, so too does data. We recognised the importance of gaining this certification to ensure that security, confidentiality and reliability for our clients is maintained and continually improved"
"It is our responsibility as security specialists to inform customers of data backup obligations and potential security breaches. The ISO puts a stamp on our continued dedication to achieving the highest levels of certification available to us", continued Jonathan.

"It is critical that more organisations follow the lead of companies like keepITsafe and prove to the public that they are a secure organisation to do business with.
"Clients and employees have a right to expect that their sensitive and private information will be protected, unfortunately too many organisations fall far short of the standards set out in ISO 27001," continued Brophy.
With more than 1,500 clients and 150 partners, keepITsafe is Ireland's largest online backup provider. The company was formed in 2003 with a passion to eliminate the headache and burden of backup for their customers.
The success of the company stems from its fully managed and fully monitored service, along with its investment in key infrastructure in two of Irelands leading datacentres - Digiweb and Data Electronics.
Working with customers to make sure that their backups are flawless and data can be restored from any location is key to keepITsafe's credibility in the IT space.
KeepITsafe continues to push the boundaries of backup and to educate business owners in the areas of online backup and the legalities associated with the Data Protection Act.
