GB link Completes National Gallery

Complete Telecom's 1Gps Link @ National Gallery of Ireland Enables Greater Online Collaboration

Neil Wisdom, Complete Telecom sales and marketing director,

Managed network and telecoms services provider Complete Telecom has delivered a 1 Gigabit per second  internet connection to the National Gallery of Ireland which is transforming its online collaboration with art instiitutions around the world.

The new link will greatly assist NGI staff to plan and execute major exhibitions,  by allowing  them  to share high resolution images and video  with sister institutions, which requires enormous bandwidth and internet connectivity.

Complete Telecom sales and marketing director Neil Wisdom (pictured) said: "The National Gallery of Ireland is developing into an international hub for the most sought after exhibitions in the world. Our superfast internet connectivity enables the gallery to support the execution of these exhibitions with the appropriate technologies, as it continues to compete at the highest levels on the global stage."

Previously, the NGI lacked the bandwidth to deliver multimedia traffic on top of its existing data services, incurring congestion and outages, and  slowing down the collaborative process.

NGI IT and procurement manager Niamh Gogan said: "The positive impact of the Complete Telecom solution can't be overstated. The 1Gbps internet connectivity speeds have transformed our communications internally, across government departments and with our counterparts around the globe.

The NGI made the decision to replace its existing and restrictive internet connection with a Complete Telecom 1GB solution following a competitive tender.

"We had never been in a position to avail of such speeds, but recent competition in the Irish telecommunications market has meant there are great deals to be found. Complete Telecom's fibre network services proved to me the best in the market," Gogan said.

The NGI houses the state collection of Irish and European fine art which currently includes more than 15,000 pieces. It is charged with promoting and preserving a priceless element of the country's vast artistic heritage and is one of the biggest cultural tourist attractions in Ireland, attracting more than 780,000 visitors last year.

ROUNDUP330.pngThe new link means the National Gallery is now reaping  the operational and cost benefits of connecting  to the Government VPN, enabling greater productivity and communication for its employees, as well as providing an ultra-fast internet connection that delivers  greater online collaboration with galleries around the world.

The National Gallery of Ireland (NGI) was founded by an Act of Parliament in 1854 and opened to the public ten years later in 1864.

It is devoted to the collection and care of fine art dating from 1300 -1950.  It has  some 15,000 paintings, drawings, watercolours, miniatures, prints, sculpture and objets d'art,  including masterpieces by many of the most celebrated figures in the history of western European art from the Middle Ages to the twenty-first century.

Funded by the State, the National Gallery provides free access to the public 361 days a year. It  houses the most representative collection of historic Irish art available anywhere.

Complete Telecom is one of Ireland's leading enterprise providers of managed network and telecoms services. Its all-fibre next generation network and extensive experience of converged network infrastructure means it can deliver fully integrated connectivity.

Complete offers managed services to corporate clients, Government and telecommunications carriers. Since its formation in 2001, Complete Telecom has grown to become a leading force in the market, with constant re-investment and service and product development every year since it's inception'
