Fort Technologies Launches "Sticky and Secure" Cloud Computing Services
A Dublin-based start-up founded by three friends, Fort Technologies is banking on the disruptive power of cloud computing and its own intuitive management technology to help it outmanoeuvre established management software vendors by empowering service providers to create very sticky customer offerings.
Fort's cloud software and service enables the delivery of a premium level of infrastructure (IaaS) where a high level of reliability, security and data storage in the client's local jurisdiction is required.
Fort Technologies' offerings include management software and services used by managed service providers (MSP's), corporates and the datacentre industry to deliver cloud based infrastructure services to their customers.
This can include servers, storage, backup, business applications, security, monitoring and networking. The newly launched services are all delivered online, managed through Fort's management interface and paid for on a monthly basis.
Fort Technologies was founded in April 2008 by CEO Gerry Murray, Sales & Marketing Director Noel O'Grady and CTO Garrett Burke, who all met several years ago while working for different ISP and datacentre providers.
The three founders identified a clear gap in the market for Fort's intuitive management interface, which empowers service providers to independently design, cost, build and manage complete IT environments.
CEO Gerry Murray has 20 years experience at a senior level in military, telecoms, IT systems and logistics working for international organisations across five continents; while Noel O'Grady is a senior Sales & Marketing professional who has worked for 16 years in the IT, telecoms and electronics sectors. Burke has 16 years experience delivering both infrastructure and software development projects for large technology providers.
Murray describes the Fort offering as "cloud management software and complete IT services in the cloud with all the benefits of in-house solutions but with zero capital costs, increased flexibility, real-time scalability and greater security.
"This disruptive technology provides an opportunity to out manoeuvre entrenched vendors and create extremely ‘sticky' customer bases for service providers'.
In addition to investment by the owners, Enterprise Ireland has provided financial support through its HPSU program.
O'Grady says "the business is trading in the Republic and in the UK. Partner Agreements have been signed with MSPs in Dublin, Cork, Fermanagh, Belfast, Galway and Sligo. The cloud management software has been targeted by datacentres and multi-national service providers for use in their cloud computing offerings."
The business is growing month-on-month. Murray says Fort is looking to expand in the UK where discussions have taken place with prospective partners, and the company is also planning a US market launch later.
