Panasonic Launches HD Skype Service For its Viera TV
With millions of individuals and businesses already using Skype to make free video and voice calls, Panasonic is making the experience bigger. It has just announced the availability of Skype Services for use with its Viera TV, allowing HDTV owners to make free Skype-to-Skype calls from their large screen TV.
This means Panasonic large screen TV owners can see their families and friends in High Definition on a large screen from the comfort of their living as they talk on Skype.
Skype is a new addition to Panasonic's VIERA CAST, an innovative feature on the TV which allows users to access online content directly from the living room via an Internet connection without using a computer, giving users access to YouTube, Eurosport, Google's Picasa Web Albums and many more services.
To make a Skype video call, users just add a specially-designed high-performance Panasonic HD Communication Camera, sold separately as an accessory.
The camera can broadcast HD pictures in 720p and also includes a special 4 unidirectional microphone system that can easily pick up sound from couch-distance, so all members of the family can take part in conversations.
Skype services are available on Panasonic's VT20, V20, G20, D28 (37- and 32-inch models) and D25 VIERA TVs. Picture quality depends on Internet Connection Speed.
