In a first for the Irish market, NCB Stockbrokers today launched a free 3G mobile phone video mail service to its clients, in partnership with O2 and Zamano. NCB has developed and designed the stock market commentary which forms the basis of the video content. O2 provides high download speeds via its secure broadband and EDGE networks, while Zamano, the Irish based provider of mobile services, is responsible for transmitting the video messages to participating clients’ mobile handsets.

NCB also today announced that it can now make available information on share prices quoted on the ISEQ and UK share prices on O2 mobile handsets. NCB plans to extend the indices in the coming weeks.

Commenting James Dunne, NCB Stockbrokers, (pictured right) said, “In the context of the current volatility in stock markets across the world, access to information has become even more important. We are delighted to be in a position to provide regular commentary and share price information to our clients in a new and innovative way in partnership with O2 and Zamano.”

NCB is currently issuing its stock market video updates to participating clients on a weekly basis. The video link lasts, on average, approximately 60 seconds and provides recipients with a snapshot of the main developments across key markets. Ronan Whelan, Corporate Sales & Business Services Manager at O2 (pictured left) said, “O2 is delighted to be partnering with NCB in laying the platform for a new standard in mobile video distribution. Time efficiency is an ever-increasing challenge for business people, who now, more than ever, expect more from their mobile technology. Handset quality has allowed mobile phones to receive rich 3G media content and because the price point of high-end handsets is decreasing all the time it means more people will have the option to access high functionality mobile phones.”

Also commenting, John O’Shea, CEO of Zamano (pictured centre) said, “Under this new initiative, Zamano is responsible for transmitting the video messages to participating NCB clients’ mobile handsets. We are able to transmit and deliver the rich 3G mobile content and interactivity via 3G video services using technologies such as SMS, MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) and IVR (Interactive Video Response)”.
