Irish eCommerce Developer Launch Zen Cart Software Module for Smart Phone Beautiful Browsing and Shopping

JSWEB, the Irish company that specialises in designing and building eCommerce websites using the Zen Cart platform, has become the first company in the world to launch a software module that automatically switches a Zen Cart Store from its typical eCommerce interface to a portable mobile commerce (mCommerce) website.

mCommerce is simply e-commerce conducted through mobile devices such as smart phones (eg. iPhones, Google Android), tablets (iPad, Amazon Kindle), netbooks and notebooks, and with an estimated 47 million iPhones sold in 2010 alone, it is clear that brands conducting business on the web need to make it as seemless and user friendly as possible.

With JSWEB mCommerce channel visitors to a Zen Cart site will be able to easily browse and purchase from the store using their mobile device, greatly assisting visitor stickiness for the millions of Zen Cart powered sites worldwide.

JSWEB undertook a study of leading mobile sites such as Marks and Spencer, ASOS, New Look and Walmart, all of which are globally recognised as mCommerce leaders. Using them as the epitome of good reference sites, the JSWEB team developed a user-friendly mCommerce application that provided the best of the features, but allowing Zen Cart store owners to easily switch their store to mCommerce mode at a fraction of the cost these corporates are likely to have paid.

It is not an "app" which a visitor would need to download; instead when visiting a Zen Cart store using a mobile smart phone device, the 'look and feel' will automatically switch from the standard eCommerce (which in the past has been clunky to view on a small screen) to a new mCommerce view making it easier for them to use" said Rick Suffolk, Project Lead at JSWEB.

With an estimated 150,000 downloads of Zen Cart in 2011 to date, and the market opportunity for JSWEB is significant. Their software is non-geographical allowing Zen Cart users around the world to take advantage by upgrading to mCommerce.
