Limerick Technology Company Wins Best IP Award for Cloud Technology in Cruickshank Sponsored LEAP Business Awards
Cloudium Systems has scooped the "Best IP" award at the LEAP Business Awards 2011 for its innovative cloudAccel and cloudRDP technology.
Cloudium Systems, an Enterprise Ireland HPSU, is pioneering the creation of high-performance solutions for rich media applications, spanning desktop virtualization to IPTV. The company's IP enables the creation of cloud-based desktops with the same fidelity of experience as a local PC. The cloudAccel and cloudRDP technologies are core to Cloudium's cloudZero VCA2000 product family; a next generation, standards-based solution with the Cloudium designed CA2020 semiconductor at its heart and which is optimized to leverage the power and performance of Microsoft RemoteFX technology.
Standard features include single and dual head DVI video options up to 1920x1200 resolution, transparent USB redirection (4 USB ports as standard), full motion video capability, and audio connections. Deployment is easy, and the passive device requires no software licenses or maintenance to be fully operational.
Cloudium Systems CEO, John Hickey, explained Cloudium's goal is to provide the same high fidelity user experience from a network or a cloud environment as a user would experience directly from a PC. He commented: "I am very proud to accept this prestigious award on behalf of Cloudium Systems. It is a reflection of the innovative technology that the Cloudium team has created over the last three years. The world of computing is making a paradigm shift from the personal computer to a ‘pervasive' or ‘virtual' desktop that can be accessed anywhere and anytime - a concept described in the increasingly used term "cloud computing."
Richard O'Connor, Partner, Cruickshank Intellectual Property Attorneys, sponsors of the awards added: "Industry drivers and application trends clearly indicate a shift towards cloud computing and we are glad to be part of recognising Cloudium Systems innovation in this space with this IP award."
