Irish Mobile and Social App Developers Vie for the Top Honours at The Appys 2011
The annual Appys, which celebrate the best of Ireland's mobile and social apps, has opened for nominations. This years event, with The Carphone Warehouse, will be hosted by Phantom FM's Michelle Doherty and Dermot Whelan of RTÉ's Republic of Telly fame, and features new categories and its very own gadget show!
The Appys is designed to celebrate the innovation and creativity now abundant in the app development industry and reward the best, the most useful and the most creative apps and their developers. Entries are open to anyone who has developed or paid for the development of a mobile app, a tablet app (e.g. an iPad app) and a Facebook app. All platforms are invited - iOS, Android, Bada, Symbian, Ovi, Windows etc
Appys' co-organiser, Edward Conmy, said: "Apps are now part of everyday life and are having an impact on the way people share information, entertain themselves, educate themselves, search for things, shop and do business. The quality of apps now available is staggering and the apps of our highly skilled Irish developers are market leaders."

The event itself will be held at the Mansion House in Dublin on November 3rd, 2011. As well as the awards, the Appys is an an excellent networking event, and this year, for the first time ever, will host a pre-show technology arena.
Conmy's co-organiser, Des Doris, said: "After the success of last year, 2011 is bigger and better. We have Michelle Doherty (Phantom FM) and Dermot Whelan (RTÉ's, Republic of Telly) co-presenting the event which is also being recorded for TV. The pre-show technology arena will include the latest and greatest mobile devices and the after show party will be something special. It's a night not to miss for anyone interested in the mobile and app development industries."
