Accuris CEO Aidan DillonAccuris Networks, a global leader in mobile roaming solutions, has signed an agreement with Nairobi headquartered telecommunications company, QuickTel, to target the rapidly growing African mobile market. Under the agreement QuickTel will distribute Accuris Networks’ roaming products to mobile operators through its subsidiaries in Kenya, DRC, Zambia and Nigeria.

Accuris Networks’ products are aimed at mobile operators who want to boost inbound and outbound roaming revenues to increase ARPU, reduce operational expenditure and retain customer loyalty.

The proven AccuROAM platform enables operators to extend their international reach by offering subscribers seamless roaming between the disparate CDMA, GSM and WiFi technologies. The AccuROAM platform can also be used to provide a GSM roaming broker service that will allow new or existing GSM/UMTS mobile service providers access an immediate global roaming capability without the need to form hundreds of bi-lateral roaming agreements. Network operators also have the option to combine AccuROAM with the powerful AccuPROFILE OTA technology allowing automatic detection and configuration/reconfiguration of customer devices.

“As it is a pioneer in the global roaming market we are delighted to bring Accuris Networks to the African region,” says Anwar Hussein / MD of QuickTel Kenya. “Accuris Networks built the world’s first inter-technology roaming platform in 1996. It continues to be a pioneer in the provision of standards based inter-working platforms to enable roaming between 2nd and 3rd generation CDMA, TDMA and GSM based systems, as well as next generation IMS, WiFi and WiMAX networks.”

“Together with QuickTel we are targeting new business opportunities in both CDMA and GSM  - a market that is set to grow in Africa by almost 90% from 290m subscribers to 540m over the next four years,”
commented Aidan Dillon, CEO, Accuris Networks (pictured). “QuickTel, which is also known as the Egyptian Telephone Company, has a great track record in delivering telecommunications across the African region.”
