Speaking in San Francisco at the start of a week-long trade mission to the west coast of the United States today, An Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Mary Coughlan T.D. (pictured) has announced that €3m in new export deals have been secured by a number of Enterprise Ireland companies.
The companies announcing new deals include:
- Cubic Telecom, a Cork-based global mobile communications provider is partnering with Qik, a Redwood City-based free social networking and video blogging service (read more here).
- Documatics, a Cork-based provider of advanced document-management software technology, sealed a deal to provide its document-management platform to GE Sensing, a major global customer with headquarters in Boston. In addition, to support its growing U.S. presence, Documatics recently established an office in Los Angeles, Calif.
and
- SensorPro, a Limerick-based provider of web-based online survey tools, sealed a partnership with Redwood City-based StrongMail Systems. Today, StrongMail launched "StrongSurvey", a new online survey tool which is powered by technology from SensorPro.
Currently, there are almost 500 US companies in Ireland employing around 100,000 people. But with several high profile withdrawals in recent months, and the scandals besetting our banking sector, the government is keen to position Ireland as a stage player in an effort to keep inward investment coming in.
During her visit, the Tanaiste will be meeting several ICT companies in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle and Portland.
She said, "With a combined value of €3m, these deals reflect the steady growth and success of Irish companies in the U.S. market especially coming on the back the recent trade mission to the East Coast of the US when the Taoiseach announced new sales for Enterprise Ireland client companies of over €100m."
The Minister concluded, "The diversity of Irish companies forging deals with U.S. partners and being recognised for their outstanding technology is highly impressive, and I'm delighted to acknowledge the efforts of these companies and their teams. They are tremendous ambassadors of Irish business and I congratulate them on striking these lucrative deals in the U.S. market."
