Move to new premises at Northern Ireland Science Park Signals Intention to Grow its NI Business
Leading quality management and software testing company SQS has become the latest tenant to move into the Northern Ireland's Science Park's new Concourse building.
The company, which is headquartered in Cologne, Germany, first set up operations in Dublin in 2002 and employs around 100 people across the island of Ireland and achieved a turnover of €7m in 2008.
SQS consultants design and oversee quality management processes during software and IT systems development and test the resulting products for errors and omissions. It first established a presence in Belfast in 2007 and the move to new premises signals its intention to grow its NI business considerably over the next period.
Rob McConnell, SQS regional director for NI (pictured left of NISP Norman Apsley), said: "We are very excited about opportunities for growth in Northern Ireland, and this move to the Science Park is the first step in our plan to expand operations here. We have experienced a growing demand for the services we provide - companies here recognise that excellence in software quality and testing is a vital means of safeguarding their investment and represents a major USP in a competitive global market."
He continued, "The Science Park is effectively creating a hub of innovative software companies in NI and I believe that this offers a very attractive proposition. Moving to the Science Park helps to secure SQS's position as the leader in software quality management and testing in Ireland."
Globally, SQS has completed more than 5,000 projects across Europe, Asia, North America and Africa and has a strong presence in Germany, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Finland, India, Egypt, the United States and South Africa.
It has a strong customer base including 36 FTSE-100 companies, half of the DAX 30 and nearly a third of the STOXX-50. Achieving a turnover in excess of €140m Euro in 2008, it was recognised as the International Company of the Year 2008 by the London Stock Exchange's Alternative Investment Market (AIM) for its consistent top performance.
