The Irish Rugby Football Union Gives Supporters Access to Ireland vs. South Africa Official Match Day Info on i-Phone
The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) has launched its first iPhone application which allows supporters with either an iPhone or iPod touch to download and read the official match programme for this Saturday's Ireland vs. South Africa match.
Padraig Power, Commercial Director for the IRFU explained that mobile phone applications are a logical next step in the IRFU digital strategy, and they now have a solution which allows us to extend our traditional match program to a much wider audience.
He said: "By using innovative platform's such as the iPhone, we can build better connections with our supporters and keep them continuously informed with news and information about Irish Rugby, both at a local and international level."
The application is being launched in partnership with PUBLISH-i, an Irish company specialising in automated smart-phone publishing through application stores including Apple's App Store, Google's Android Market, Blackberry's App World and Nokia's Ovi store. PUBLISH-i was formed in 2008 as a joint venture between interactive design company Pixelsoup and Zamano which specialises in mobile content, billing and interactive services in the US, Europe, Australia & South Africa.
Philip Lynch, Joint CEO, PUBLISH-i said: "We are delighted to be able to support the Irish rugby team and the IRFU in this venture and bring this traditionally time-sensitive publication to a much wider audience. By using our automated smart-phone publishing technology, we're helping the IRFU to seamlessly deliver an official match programme to supporters beyond the boundaries of the stadium, helping them to connect with thousands of supporters in Ireland and abroad".
The Ireland vs. South Africa match program is now on sale now in the App store and can be found by searching for "IRFU" or "MatchApp". http://www.apple.com/iphone/apps-for-iphone/
