Havok Makes Wii Zombies More Real

Capcom’s new Nintendo Wii Game Resident Evil Sequel  The Darkside Chronicles hits shops Friday

Havok Managing Director David O Meara says Capcom 's Developers have shown what Havoc's Physics Engine is capable ofHavok's Emmy Award-winning Physics product  will be responsible for  bringing hordes of  ultra realistic  zombies to homes across Ireland this Friday as Capcom launches  its highly anticipated game for the Nintendo Wii, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

The Darkside Chronicles  is Capcom's sequel to the highly successful, million-plus selling game, Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. This time  the zombies will be much more realistic, because the  game developers used Havok's pioneering Physics engines to create a more interactive and dynamic world  in which gamers battle  hordes of zombies in the arcade style shooter game.

David O'Meara, Managing Director of Havok, (Pictured) said: "Capcom's creative and talented team of developers shows what the Wii is truly capable of. Havok Physics helped create more immersive player interactions with the game world, and between characters in the game. It is extremely rewarding to see how Capcom utilized Havok Physics to bring the dead to life in this latest installment of Resident Evil on the Wii platform."

Havok aims to provide technology that allows developers to create new standards of believability and interactivity in  video games and movies. With over 250 games based on its technology, Havok Physics is now used by more Nintendo Wii developers than any other physics middleware solution and  it delivers the broadest range of production-tested collision detection and physics simulation features and tools to Wii developers looking to extend their existing game franchises.

Mike Webster, Director, Marketing, Capcom, said: "With Havok's proven technology, our development team in Japan was able to create a more dynamic world in Darkside Chronicles than was possible in the first game. One of the goals in Darkside Chronicles was to make the world seem more alive, and the integration of Havok Physics made it possible for objects in the game to break apart, explode, or move much more realistically."

Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles is  continues the on-rail, arcade shooter gameplay  in the survival horror tradition, but increases the thrills and chills with an enhanced two-player co-op mode where players can follow their partners on the same screen. A horde of new features including a new system that allows players to modify the difficulty level according to their playing skills, will bring accessibility and fun to both the hardcore and casual gamers.
