SaveNet Solutions is helping Insurance Group CACI to implement a cloud-based disaster recovery system in Dublin which provides a disaster recovery service to its staff  across France, Italy, Germany and Spain.

Once they can access a PC, CACI's European staff wil be able to log in to data and applications in Dublin in the event of a disaster.

CACI IT Manager Mary Ryan (Pictured, left) said:"Our business has been expanding rapidly over the last number of years and data is crucial for the running of the business, particularly portfolio information, statistics and reporting information".

"With offices in Paris,Lille, Milan,Frankfurt and Madrid, we needed a corporate-wide disaster recovery / business continuity plan so that we could get back to work as quickly as possible if some kind of interruption or disaster occurred, " Ryan explained.

CACI personnel can connect from anywhere once they have access to a PC and internet connection. The solution provides a disaster recovery service for servers in France, Italy, Germany and Spain offices by hosting replicas back in Dublin.

In the event of a disaster, CACI  staff can access their virtual disaster recovery servers through a secure VPN connection. Savenet also installed Onsite Business Continuity appliance which allows the fast restore of one or more servers if there is a hardware failure onsite.

"We now have real time online replication with regard to our email and applications and this allows us to respond quickly in the event of any failure or disaster. If our systems go down, I have the security of knowing that switching to our virtual environment will allow users experience minimum disruption times", continues Ryan.

Savenet Solutions worked with CACI to integrate its Cloud Disaster Recovery Service which gives remote access to clients' programmes, servers and data.Savenet's managed service plan reduces business risk, delivers high availability and means CACI is well prepared if disaster strikes.

Savenet's Online Backup software allows backup of all CACIs' servers on a daily basis to their virtual disaster recovery environment in a remote data centre using their existing internet connection. Savenet then rebuild virtual servers to the same specification as  CACI 's live servers.

The next phase for CACI is to further virtualise its live environment to give it added power in reduced space. As part of Savenet Solutions' ongoing development of the €220,000 Disaster Recovery service, it plans to move CACI to a more high availability solution within the next three months. This solution will reduce their recovery time from 8-12 hours to 2-3 hours. The new solution will also reduce their recovery point from the previous night to within one  hour before the disaster.

CACI is a payment protection insurer distributing insurance solutions in14 countries which is part of the French Credit Agricole Group. CACI is headquartered in Paris and Lille, and has offices in Milan, Frankfurt and Madrid. All  depend on the Irish IT infrastructure in Dublin where the company employs 57 people of eleven nationalities.

Managed service provider IT Focus  which has provided ICT support to CACI for seven years and operates as their trusted IT advisor, recommended SaveNet Solutions as a disaster recovery provider.

IT Focus partnered with Savenet Solutions to set up the Disaster RecoveryService, providing the necessary security access and knowledge transfer to ensure the critical servers and data integrity were in place for CACI. IT Focus continues to work with Savenet on an ongoing basis, advising on any updates or changes to the CACI environment, to ensure these changes are replicated at the DR site.

"Accessibility, reliability and availability of information is paramount to success in our business. The disaster recovery and managed service solution has given us a highly flexible solution that we can easily grow when it's needed. It also gives me peace of mind and allows me to sleep well knowing our data and applications are in safe hands", said Ryan.

"IT Focus has brought this state of the art IT solution together to meet our business requirements and those of our customers, now and into the future. IT Focus'  expertise and commitment  to us is a key factor in our on-going relationship," Ryan concluded.
