Dublin iPhone Developer Creates 3D Engine Simulating "Vintage" Reading Experience on iPhone or iPod touch
Ideal Binary Limited, a privately held iPhone software development company based in Dublin has launched 3D Bookshelf, the first fully 3D eBook reader application for the iPhone & iPod touch.
Unlike most other eBook reader applications, 3D Bookshelf tries to simulate the "vintage" reading experience in 3D.
Kevin Doolan, co-owner of Ideal Binary said: "Using a highly specialized 3D engine, we can recreate an ultra realistic three dimensional book and allow the user to open it to any page in full 3D. The user can also manipulate the book in a special viewing mode, as you would with a real book" .
Ideal Binary's high performance 3D engine is designed to use as little energy as possible and shuts down almost completely when there is no movement on screen to ensure efficient battery use.
The application features fifteen time-honored eBooks, such as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
Significant updates are planned, including the addition of more books. To celebrate the launch of 3D Bookshelf for iPhone & iPod touch, Ideal Binary is giving away an Apple iPad. Visit the 3D Bookshelf website for more information.
