IT Security  Experts Take Speed Dating Approach To Data Security

 

 

 

Calyx Security Managing Director John Ryan (pictured) emphasised the increasing importance of Data Leakage Protection and the resulting opportunities it provides  for the security industryData Leakage Protection or DLP was the central theme of a briefing hosted by Calyx Security, a division of Calyx Group, at the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin today.

 

 

The Getting Serious About Data Security in 2010 event saw national and international experts  from companies such as RSA, Checkpoint and Cisco take a speed dating approach to discussing data security.

 

 

Speaking before the event Calyx Security Managing Director John Ryan (pictured) emphasised the increasing importance of Data Leakage Protection and the resulting opportunities it provides  for the security industry,

 

"IDC statistics rate DLP as the second greatest threat to enterprise security, while only 31.4% of organisations claim to be prepared with adequate technologies in place," said Ryan.


"Since another 15.5% of organisations have plans to purchase, these statistics represent  an impending danger for enterprises and an opportunity for security providers to address this pressing need in 2010."

 

 

The Guest speaker at this morning's security event was David Whelan, Mazars Director IT Compliance and Consultancy Services. Whelan's  briefing  focused on ‘Staying a step ahead in 2010' provided insight into static data, data mobility, transmission, retention and backup .

 

 

Other speakers included:

  • Nikki Mills, RSA Senior DLP Technical Consultant who spoke about ways of reducing the risk of data loss by delivering intelligent information risk management.
  • Mark Fullbrook, Cyber-Ark Director UK & Ireland, who spoke  on  privileged accounts in an ever changing economy
  • James Todd, Cisco Security Technical Manager - Europe, who spoke on  Effective DLP made easy 
  • Alwyn Nash, Check Point's Endpoint Technology Leader,  who asked Where does DLP start?
