The 14th NovaUCD Entrepreneurs Live! Lunchtime Seminars Start Next Wednesday With Colm Lyon.
Colm Lyon, founder and CEO of Realex Payments, will kick off the 14th NovaUCD Entrepreneurs Live! lunchtime seminar series next Wednesday, February 24, by giving a free talk at UCD at which attendees have been promised he will reveal the secrets of his business success.
Lyon won the 2009 Eircom Golden Spider Internet Hero Award and founded Realex Payments, a leading European payment service provider which offers a broad range of online payment services to more than3,500 domestic and international clients. Realex now employs around 70 people.
This Entrepreneurs Live! seminar series, organised by NovaUCD in association with the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board, will also feature three other leading Irish technology entrepreneurs.
Lyon's talk will be followed by seminars from Howard Beggs of Helix Health; John Lynch of Merrion Pharmaceuticals and Ray Nolan of Web Reservations International and Worky.com.
The aim of these seminar is to promote a spirit of entrepreneurship among the academic, research and student populations at University College Dublin and beyond.
During the NovaUCD Entrepreneurs Live! seminars guest entrepreneurs talk about their experiences of setting-up and running their businesses and outline how they are handling the challenges of our much changed economic environment.
They emphasise lessons learnt and summarise the highs and lows encountered along their entrepreneurial journeys. Each guest speaker will also attempt to reveal the secrets of their success. After each seminar attendees have an opportunity to ask probing questions of the guest speaker.

- Wednesday, 10 March Howard Beggs, co-founder and CEO, Helix Health
- Tuesday, 23 March Ray Nolan, Founder, Web Reservations International and Worky.com
Each seminar takes place in NovaUCD, Belfield Innovation Park, Belfield, UCD, from 1 pm to 1:50 pm. Attendance is free and all are welcome to register in advance to attend.
NovaUCD is University College Dublin's Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre. It is responsible for the commercialisation of intellectual property arising from UCD research. It has a purpose-built incubation centre for nurturing new technology and knowledge-intensive enterprises, where 26 companies are currently located
The last seminar in this series will take place as part of an Open Morning at NovaUCD, a Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown 2010 Enterprise Week event.
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board is a State Enterprise Development Agency offering support to individuals in the county of Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown who are thinking of starting a business and to those who are looking to grow their small business. There are 35 City & County Enterprise Boards located across Ireland and the role of each is to help the development of micro-enterprises (i.e. businesses employing up to 10 people) in their locality.
