Galway-Based Online Music Mixing Site Rocudo Signs its 50th Artist
Galway-based online music site Rocudo has signed its 50th international artist, following a visit to the recent MIDEM conference in Cannes. DJ Marcin Czubala from Poland is the latest act to sign with the online mixing site
Rocudo is an online music mixing platform which delivers Direct-to-Fan engagement to artists and record labels by leveraging social networking culture. The Rocudo platform allows fans to take original music tracks, remix them online and then share their unique creations with other Fans via social networks like Facebook.
Artists typically use Rocudo to encourage fans to remix clips of upcoming tracks before they are released. Fans collectively vote for their favourite remixes and share them online via social networks. Rocudo tracks all these activities and feeds back analytical data to artists and record labels to help them measure and improve their online promotional campaigns.
Rocudo CEO Culann MacCabe (Pictured) said the deal is a major milestone for the company, which started developing the its web site in 2007. Its eDJ/Producer platform is now expanding fast, by building a strong base of original music tracks which it provides to online subscribers. Rocudo has artists and fan subscribers from 51 countries on five continents.
Rocudo's platform enables artists and DJs to create promotional widgets that feed music, images, tour dates, merchandise and other information directly to fans’ social networking pages. Fans remix their favourite Artists’ music online, producing their own unique creations, which they can also share through sites like Facebook or Twitter.
MacCabe said: "Breaking through the 50 Artists barrier signals that we are building up momentum. Marcin is a fantastic DJ/Producer and a great addition to the roster of artists we’ve managed to attract”.
“Our primary goal now is to drive fan subscriptions, and to achieve that we need quality music for them to engage with”, explained MacCabe.
“We’re getting interest from record labels who want to use Rocudo as an online promotional tool for their artists, as well as from brands looking to engage their audiences through interactive music in a social networking context.

“Our next target is to get to the 100 Artists mark and to double our Fan subscriber base.
"We’re well on our way to hitting both goals within the first quarter of 2010,” said MacCabe.
Rocudo is based in the NUI Galway campus, where it has spent more than five years developing various music-related technologies. The company employs four staff in Ireland and one in Berlin.
