Citrix  Launches New Cloud Kit

New Appliances Speed Convergence of Virtualisation & Networking for Cloud Providers & Datacentres

Troy Trenchard, group vice president and general manager of the Security and Acceleration Product Group at Citrix Citrix Systems has announced two new VPX networking products which it claims will change the industry landscape by extending the benefits of server and desktop virtualisation to virtual network services running in datacentres and branch offices.

Citrix Branch Repeater VPX, which optimises WAN to provide a high definition desktop and application experience to thousands of branch offices worldwide and Citrix Access Gateway VPX, which ensures safe application access to users from anywhere.

Troy Trenchard, group vice president and general manager of the Security and Acceleration Product Group at Citrix said: "With the introduction of Branch Repeater and Access Gateway as virtual appliances, we are bringing together the company's expertise in both networking and server/desktop virtualisation to deliver the industry's only complete end-to-end application networking virtualisation solution" .

"Together, these solutions accelerate and secure virtual desktops and applications from thousands of enterprise datacenters and cloud providers to users anywhere, on-demand, anytime.

"For companies operating branch offices, this solution combines the benefits of hardware network appliances with the simplicity, flexibility and cost-effectiveness of software appliances to offer a complete end-to-end networking system," explains Trenchard.

Citrix VPX offers open, flexible solutions that work with the technology customers have already invested in, allowing them to extend the value of their existing investments in the network and branch offices in ways they never thought possible before.

ROUNDUP330.pngWith physical network appliances, IT organisations struggle with inefficient procurement, trial and deployment cycles as well as increasingly complex hardware set-up and management.

Citrix virtual network appliances help transform the economics and agility of IT services by leveraging server hardware and virtualisation in the network infrastructure.

By virtualising the branch and network infrastructure and deploying Citrix VPX on any off the shelf hardware, companies can realise reduced bandwidth costs, simplified branch infrastructure, faster performance and better security.

As well as this, IT agility is increased as new office setup is much faster and simlpler.

Network virtualisation also improves the economics of cloud computing by providing a flexible and cost-effective deployment model for delivering customised network services.

The Citrix end-to-end virtualisation networking solution enables cloud service providers to offer value-added services, such as application acceleration, secure access and WAN optimisation on a per-tenant basis.

Cloud service providers can also leverage flexibile Pay-As-You-Grow pricing models, allowing them to offer on-demand network services to their customers, eliminating large, up-front capital expenditures.

Citrix Access Gateway VPX is available now and Citrix Branch Repeater VPX will be released later this month. Both will be available from Citrix Solution Advisors worldwide. Later in 2010, Access Gateway VPX Express and Branch Repeater VPX Express will also be available for free download
