Annual Wordpress Conference Attracts Hundreds of Irish and European Bloggers to the Marble City
Wordcamp Ireland, the annual conference for bloggers using the Wordpress platform, saw record attendance with bloggers travelling from the four corners of Ireland, Spain, UK, Germany, Bulgaria and France.
The event is taking place in the Langton House Hotel, Kilkenny City, and is designed to assist bloggers and professional web developers to leverage the popular platform through three tracks with 'introductory', blogging and technical streams.
Sabrina Dent, who co-organised Wordcamp Ireland with colleague Katherine Nolan, told IrishDev.com, "Whether you’re interested in personal blogging or blogging for business, WordCamp is an ideal way to learn more about using WordPress.
"We have over 30 speakers who are here to show people how to improve their blogs, improve their writing and improve their traffic. For the more technically minded, we have experts to demonstrate essential plugins, getting under the hood and the hacks of WordPress and WordPressMU."
She added, "We are blown away with the number of people who have come along to Wordcamp Ireland this weekend."
The conference has an international line-up of speakers including Andrea Trasatti (WordPress on Mobile), Josh Holmes (WordPress on Windows) and Joost de Valk (right of picture) (Site Analysis Clinic) who have joined with local speakers including Alastair McDermott (10 Must-Have Plugins), Darragh Doyle (Blogging for Business) and Niall Harbison (Video Blogging 101).
Donncha O Caoimh (left of picture), a long standing developer at Automattic, the company behind the Wordpress platform that powers 32 million blogs worldwide said after his presentation on WP Super Cache, "I must extend a big thank you to Sabrina Dent and Katherine Nolan for organising a great day and to the sponsors who made the weekend possible."
