FACEBOOK-Marc-Zuckerberg.pngFast Company, the US Media magazine that charts the evolution of business through a unique focus on the most creative individuals sparking change in the marketplace, has announced its global winners of the world's most innovative companies.

To create this year’s Most Innovative Companies, Fast Company’s editorial team analyzed information on thousands of businesses across the globe, identifying not just revenue growth and profit margins, but creative models and progressive cultures – to define the many forms of innovation that exist across the business landscape.

By uncovering best and "next" practices, the magazine claims to help a new breed of leader work smarter and more effectively. Its editor Robert Safian, said “It was invigorating to engage with so many exciting new ideas and developments. Our goal was to offer a snapshot of the creativity at work in the global marketplace, and to inspire the Fast Company audience with illustrations of how powerful and effective business can be.”

Overall, Facebook took the honours. Mike Schroepfer, vice president of engineering at Facebook, said “There are a lot of amazing technology companies out there so we're honored to be #1 on Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies list.

It is awesome to see the Facebook technology team recognized. We pride ourselves on moving fast to introduce new technologies and products that can enhance the lives of hundreds of millions of people worldwide."

Cloud computing company Salesforce.com who, like Facebook and Google have their European HQ's in Dublin, are a regular feature on IrishDev.com. As Fast Company reports, salesforce.com is recognized for: “Part sales management tool, part developer platform, and part mashup of public and private customer-insight data, salesforce.com is the undisputed leader in helping sales hordes track prospects and win business.

New in 2009: Service Cloud, a customer-service software system that also analyzes comments and complaints on Twitter or Facebook; a collaboration with Cisco that offers an online-call-center capability; and Chatter, an internal Twitter-like feed service that will let sales forces interact, securely and in real time. Last November, the company announced third-quarter revenue of $331 million, up 20% year over year.”

Marc Benioff, chairman and CEO of salesforce.com, which was also ranked 43rd overall in Fortune magazines, Best Places to Work, said “We’re excited to part of this esteemed group of Internet innovators. Salesforce.com and our millions of users have shown that the Internet has the power to revolutionize business just as it has the consumer world.”
