Irish CMS Specialist Lands Contract To Revamp The Aer Lingus Web Site
Dublin-based web content management specialist TERMINALFOUR has landed a contract to redesign the Aer Lingus website. As Aerlingus.com is now its primary sales channel, accounting for well in excess of 75% of all flights booked, the Irish national airline wants to make its new site one of the most interactive and usable in the world.
TERMINALFOUR will use its web content management solution Site Manager to increase the Irish airline's international traffic and to deliver personalised customer searches on its web site .
Aer Lingus wants its new site to be a platform enabling it to add additional online revenue generating services. To realise this vision, it needed a web content management (WCM) solution that could address the limitations of its previous content management system. TERMINALFOUR was chosen based on its competitive pricing model, easy-to-use software and high-profile customer base.
The Irish national carrier flies more than ten million passengers a year to 72 destinations throughout the world. Aer Lingus wants to eliminate the barriers to a quality end-user experience which its current site suffers from. These include timeouts on web pages, limited interactive capabilities and incompatibility with some of the latest communication devices.
Aer Lingus brand managers also wanted a website that could provide fully integrated marketing campaigns, enhance SEO strategies and enable them to put uplast-minute special offers.
The previous system was restrictive in terms of content publishing. TERMINALFOUR will provide Aer Lingus with its flagship solution Site Manager, which has easy-to-use publishing capabilities that will enable devolved content creation across the airline, allowing the airline's marketing staff to create online campaigns, special offers and customer give-aways at a moments notice.
TERMINALFOUR chief operations officer David Miller said: "Aerlingus.com is an integral part of the future strategic direction of the company.
"With such a mission-critical part of its commercial operations dependent on the site, the choice of web partner was vital to Aer Lingus.
"TERMINALFOUR's experience in rolling-out large scale web projects to hundreds of university, public sector and commercial customers convinced Aer Lingus that we were the right company to successfully deliver a project of such magnitude," said Miller.
Aer Lingus is planing to create targeted landing pages with specific promotions, such as for ski destinations.the new WCMS will allow Mini sites to be created within Aer Lingus and partner sites, resulting in better SEO campaigns and greater exposure for Aer Lingus online.
Aer Lingus head of e-commerce Ronan Fitzpatrick (pictured right) said: "Aer Lingus is currently undergoing a systems review process. As part of this redevelopment we wanted to put a content management platform in place to help deliver the full revenue potential of the Aer Lingus website. We needed a web content management solution with the core features and capabilities to create a dynamic online representation of the Aer Lingus brand. TERMINALFOUR's impressive client list of the world's leading brands convinced us they were the right partner for us."
