Hibernia Evros Enters Contracts Biz

Hibernia Evros Technology Group Sets Up  IT Resourcing Division As Irish Firms Turn To  Contractors

HiberniaEvros joint managing director Caroline GodsilIT managed services specialist Hibernia Evros Technology Group has established a new division supplying skilled IT workers to Irish companies on short term contracts.

"We set up an IT Resourcing Division because of significant demand from the market," said HiberniaEvros joint managing director Caroline Godsil (Pictured).

She said that the good news for IT workers is that there is no shortage of work in Ireland at the moment, despite the recession. However, the nature of IT work  in Ireland is changing, with a shift away from full- time jobs towards self- employed short term contract work.

Godsil said that many companies in Ireland had laid off IT staff over the last eighteen months  and now required specialist skills on a contract basis.

"This change in the structure of the IT employment market is being driven by the need for greater flexibility, access to specialist skills and lower IT costs."

"IT workers of the future will increasingly become self employed contractors rather than full time employees. This is likely to lead to greater career security, although the onus will be on individuals to continually upgrade their skill levels,"  Godsill warned.

Ms Godsil added: "As part of our service, we help workers make the transition to contracting, including  providing assistance on income tax and VAT."

The biggest demand is currently for software developers, business analysts and project managers. HiberniaEvros also provides helpdesk engineers, system administrators, infrastructure consultants, test engineers, DBAs (database administrators) and business application consultants.

HiberniaEvros currently has a pool of approximately 100 IT contractors, separate from the company's internal staff and plans to expand this in response to market demand.
