Caulfield Bows Out as Second Internet Growth Acceleration Event Concludes at Dublin Pitch Event
Enterprise Ireland hosted a pitch battle in East Point Business Park yesterday as thirteen of Ireland's brightest internet entrepreneurs graduated from the second Internet Growth Acceleration Programme (iGAP).
iGAP is an intensive management development programme aimed exclusively at high potential internet companies. Over six months, iGAP aims to equip entrepreneurs with the practical tools needed to formulate aggressive international growth plans and scale their businesses.
iGAP incorporates practical learning from world-class facilitators and covers fundamental topics integral to building a global internet business. The modules are combined with more intensive support from an implementation coach who supports the participating companies as they complete their programme milestones. The participants also receive ongoing support from Irish internet entrepreneurs such as Colm Lyon (Realex Payments), Rob Corbet (Arthur Cox), Damian Mulley (Mulley Communications), Pat Phelan (Max Roam), Dylan Collins (Jolt Games), Ray Nolan (Hostel World), Breon Corcoran (Paddy Power) and Fergus Burns (nooked.com).
At yesterday's graduation, the thirteen companies, DataHug, Delta Solutions, Learnpipe, OnePageCRM, Phorest, PinPoints, Rendezvu, Scurri, Trinity Innovations, TunePresto, UnitedWeSave, WeddingDates.ie and WhatClinic.com, presented short elevator pitches to the judging panel made up of Colm Lyon, Ray Nolan, Rob Corbet, Colm Healy (Qualcomm) and Mark Roden (Ezetop).
Announcing the winners, Colm Lyon said when he compared the participants presentations last October, the clarity in which the participants presented their pitches yesterday showed that they clearly had a much clearer idea about the direction of their businesses.
"Poor quality information makes business decisions much harder," he said, "and it is evident that each company now has the knowledge to help them in making better decisions. We hope that your experience with iGAP has shown you what steps to take, and indeed raised your ambition.
It is with this in mind that I have pleasure in naming DataHug, Rendezvu, TunePresto and WhatClinic as the winners, and who will now go forward to present to a panel of investors at the upcoming Dublin Web Summit in June."
Lyon also added his testimony to Brian Caulfield, on of Ireland's most respected entrepreneurs, angel investor and venture capitalists. "iGAP is recognised as one of the best start-up programmes in Europe because of Brian Caulfield's involvement, and it is with sadness that we see that Brian Caulfield is standing down from the programme."
Caelen King, founder of WhatClinic.com which is backed by Ray Nolan, said: "I wish I had been on iGAP two years ago because I could hav short-cutted some of the mistakes I've made. I have got a lot of excellent content over the last number of months which has helped me enormously."
King added: "If I was to sum up my experience of iGAP in one word, that word would be 'Generousity'. Right from the outset, the coaches and the speakers have given their time and expert advice so generously."
The event also saw a keynote presentation by Daniel Isenberg, Head of Babson Entrepreneurship Ecosytem Project.
