VideoCrisp Launches for Video Boom

Websites with Video Content are 50 times More Likely to Appear on Google's First Search Page than Websites with no Video

VIDEOCRISP_Abhinav_Chugh_120208.jpgVideoCrisp, a new cloud-based, digital software company, has announced the March launch of its video creation and editing tool which, the company claims, allows users to easily and cost effectively create, upload, edit and share their videos.

According to the company, the tool is aimed primarily at start-ups and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and says advanced features will allow users to create new or edit existing videos, and to embed templates, music, bullet points, photographs, additional video clips, with just a few clicks and without the need of complex and expensive video editing software.

VideoCrisp, based at NovaUCD, was founded in 2011 by serial entrepreneur Abhinav Chugh who has previously established, an Enterprise Ireland funded B2B trust portal. VideoCrisp is also a participant on the Enterprise Platform Programme at the Synergy Centre, Institute of Technology, Tallaght, and has to date raised €100,000 in early-stage funding, including €50,000 from Enterprise Ireland's Competitive Start Fund, an EI Innovation voucher and private investors, including a serious Irish technology entrepreneur who has, according to Chugh, "already sold a business for many millions of dollars." Chugh would not be drawn on the identity of this investor, but given that the company's technology is being developed at the CLARITY Centre for Sensor Web Technologies, which has also helped companies like ChangingWorlds and Heystaks, should provide some sort of clue!

Chugh claims that video marketing is now essential for businesses. According to eMarketer, online video advertising spending should jump 40% to $3.1 billion in 2012. YouTube, the world's biggest video hosting site and second biggest search engine after Google, has recently announced that over 4 billion videos are viewed on its website every day, and 60 hours of new video content is uploaded every minute. In addition, several studies have shown that a website with video content is over 50 times more likely to appear on Google's first search page than a website with no video content.

Despite the potential of video marketing, making a professional video is expensive, requires technical expertise and can be a cumbersome and a time-consuming process all of which are hurdles for start-ups and SMEs to overcome in order to embrace video marketing.

Aside from the user, underlying technology for these types of platform can be notoriously complex. Another Irish start-up in the video creation space, Foxframe, which participated in Jerry Kennelly's Endeavour entrepreneurs programme (more) in Kerry. Despite having a fabulous and beautiful product which has won the company awards like the Bolton Trust's Docklands Innovation Park Awards (more), the company has been plagued with technical challenges and has, two years later, only managed to get a beta version to market.

However, VideoCrisp is fortunate that its' cloud-based technology has been developed in conjunction with CLARITY and, unofficially, a Professor from National University of Galway, and Chugh is confident that VideoCrisp will launch as planned by mid-March.

Talking to this morning, Chugh said, "At the launch in mid-March, VideoCrisp will announce details of a cutting-edge technique that will be the first of its kind in the cloud-based video editing industry. This new editing technique will empower end users with amazing video editing capability on both web and mobile, in an easy and cost effective manner, to assist them in their sales and marketing activities."
