Cybersecurity Drives New Business

Security Products Distributor DataSolutions Say Working From Home Helped Drive Revenue Increase by €7.5m in 2020

As a result of companies' increased demand for IT security solutions, along with several new product lines, Dublin based DataSolutions has announced that its security division grew significantly in 2020, with revenue increasing by €7.5 million compared to the previous year.

2020 saw increasing demand for cybersecurity solutions – stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic and the rising number of more vulnerable people working from home – with new products, applications, web and cloud platforms catering for a significant increase in cyber threats.

DataSolutions identifies, evaluates and sources technologies which help resellers and their customers to build, secure, manage and access their hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure. New partnerships with Neustar, D3 Security, ColorTokens, Ordr and Orca Security have expanded the company’s existing cybersecurity portfolio, which includes industry leaders such as Check Point and HPE Aruba. The partnerships also extended its ability to meet emerging security needs. For example, to offer IoT device security as one of its solutions.

DataSolutions Managing Director, Michael O’Hara (pictured), said; “Our dedication to delivering specialised technical expertise and transformational technologies in areas including security has driven the growth and success of the business. Last year was no different. In fact, we focused on these pillars even more to support our partner and customer base through these challenging times.

Of course, security was one area that exploded as businesses looked to enable widespread remote working, maintain productivity and continue operations. With the increase in sophisticated cyberattacks targeted at dispersed workforces, security teams are under serious pressure to protect vulnerable organisations and critical data. That’s not to mention the fact that they are potentially dealing with unprotected networks, personal devices and unofficial app downloads.

Industry-leading vendors and cutting-edge solutions are crucial for businesses to safeguard their operations, people and information. Hence why we will continue to expand our offering and deliver technologies and services which, now more than ever, are the difference between organisations surviving and thriving.”

Datasolutions has been helping to educate the market and drive awareness of new cybersecurity concepts and technologies. For instance, they recently ran a four-week coffee morning series with ColorTokens to give Irish companies an overview of its Zero Trust approach and offering. This virtual series was designed to highlight the model and solutions needed to make organisations resilient to cyber threats both inside and outside of their network.

Other programmes include the “SOAR (Security Orchestration and Automated Incident Response) Made Easy” webinar series with D3 Security and virtual C-Level Briefings with Check Point. Both series are aimed at helping companies to define the most effective cybersecurity strategy and analyse the modern cybersecurity landscape.
